I'm back!

So the violin was too small. But I'm happy now anyway--I have a French violin that's not too loud--but at least not nasal, like all the other French ones sounded--but it's sweet. And a new bow thrown in to boot.

But another very **EXCITING** thing has happened! I was having a lesson and my teacher gets a phone call from Mark Huxel at Settlement. He says that the Philadelphia Classic Symphony, a small, baroque chamber orchestra, is going to need a child violinist to play a movement of a baroque concerto. It just happened to be my first lesson with the Bach E Major Concerto--first movement--for my teacher. He sais it was going really well, and that I could play it with him! The only thing is whether or not they wanted the half-size violin. Finally, they said yes! And during that, I got to solo with the Ocean City Pops (in N.J.) cause they were doing their first Halloween concert. The entire orchestra was in costume, and I had to be too. I was a witch. (Of course.) I didn't want to actually /play/ in costume; I was afraid my cape would fall off. So my teacher choreographed it so that I came out and kind of shook my broom at the audience and this guy would come out, dressed as a zombie, carrying my violin. I hand him my accessories, and he hands me the violin. I tune; I play. Except, zombie forgot to take the cape. I gave it to the co-concert master (actually, it was a woman. (With a very nice sun mask, I might add.) Would that be concert mistress? Anyway:) and she threw it at him. But it got caught on her bow. But he snatched it away, so it turned out humorous anyway. Yesterday I met the conductor of the Classic Symphony; Karl Middleman. He was very nice, and he gave nice suggestions as to what things I should change in the piece. Then we (my mom, my teacher and I) went and peeked at the hall. Even though it has wood floors and a vaulted, marble ceiling, the acoustics are only so-so! But it's a nice hall. I play November 10th.

All for now.

So, I haven't been writing here for a while. my mom got a new computer. This one. And my cousins from Minnesota were visiting and stuff, so I was busy. And for those of you who know a bit about music--I got a new piece! Praeludium and Allegro by Fritz Kreisler! I really like that piece, especially the "crazy sixths", as we call them, near the end of the Allegro. And the chords at the end. And the Praeludium is reeeally beautiful at the begining.

But, even better. I need to get a new violin, a half size. So, I wasn't having much luck finding a good one. But, my grandmother, Joanne Rile, has a job where she works with musicians to try to find them concerts to play in (she is good friends with the Ahn Trio and I have met them in person many times) and she was talking to a very famous violin prodigy Dylana Jenson and somehow the subject came up that her grandaughter needed a new half size violin, and Jenson said that she happened to have a wonderful violin (we are not sure of the size yet, though it is a half or a three quarter, and we don't know what kind it is i.e., German, Italian, French.) But she said it is the same violin she was playing with orchestras on when she was very young!! And, since it is a 17th century violin and a VERY rare one (only about two of its kind in the world), she kept it and she has been loaning it to kids (for FREE) that need that size violin!! I AM SO EXCITED THAT I MIGHT GET TO PLAY ON IT!!!!!! But the problem is, on August 9th, I'm leaving to go to a music camp called Kinhaven up in Vermont, and I might not be able to take it because she has to ship it all the way out here and I have to try it and stuff before I leave. But I might get it afterwards!!! Oh by the way, go to http://www.flash.net/~park29/jenson.htm for a page with an interview about Jenson's life. (It's a good one.) Anyway, I have to go now. Enjoy the interview!!

Houdini (aka Roberto) is doing fine! Mads noticed that his ears were getting HARDER. Sound strange? He's healing.

Anyway.

I wish I actually had something to SAY. Like, if I was advertising for a company, or had some sort of thing to record -- hey! I found this new way of blowing a bubble! Wrap the gum around your tongue and then say "th".

Sigh. Nobody will ever read my blog. I've been visiting other people's blogs by random and they aren't any more boring than mine. I found out that my mom planned to REPLACE MY HAMSTER WITH ANOTHER BLACKBEAR WITHOUT TELLING ME! You can look on her blog, by the way: http://www.krile.blogspot.com/
(Rubber toe is my hamster, Roberto. On the way back from the pet store, where Mads & Mom were, Mads said that I said that if i was going to get another pet, i'd name it after Roberto, the actor that played Nemorino in a movie of The Elixer of Love that we have.)

Well, something very excitng happened two days ago. Four days ago, I had gone shopping with my family to Kohls. Something we rarely do together. Before we left, I was playing with my hamster. I noticed that closing the lid, it looked kinda messed up. Oh, I thought, it's nothing. When we came back, HE WAS GONE! HOW COULD I BE SO DUMB?! For two days we waited for him to come out. On the third day, Mads and Pixel (dog and sister. see if you can guess which one is which ;D) were hanging out near the washing machine. Pixel looked pretty suspicious, sniffing. She found him!

I don't know why I thought he would come out perfectly unharmed.

Covered with lint, smelled like toast, whiskers gone, both eyes shut. We figure that on the top floor, where his cage is, he FELL through a vent, was in the wall, and landed behind the dryer. There is a vent behind the dryer. Purposely, every time you turn it on, the vent is on fire, He was in a fire! No wonder he smelled like that! His fur was singed. Sigh. He looks better now, though. Much better.

OK! I've finally--or, almost, learned how to work my Blogger. Hehe. Anyway, today was the Faire. Gosh, just sitting here, I feel my body moving like I'm in the Human Kart Wheel. A second ago I was trying to recognize that feeling. Cotton Candy and soda, we didn't buy much besides that. Well, let me post this and see if I succeed.....Yes! It worked.
